QUEERPOS
Editorial Policy
Our standards for accurate, fair and responsible journalism.
Accuracy and verification
We strive to verify information before publication. Reporting should be supported by reliable documents, direct observation or sources with relevant knowledge. Where facts are disputed or cannot be independently confirmed, we should make that clear. We do not knowingly publish fabricated quotations, images, statistics or claims.
Fairness, context and representation
We seek relevant perspectives and meaningful context, especially when covering marginalised communities. We avoid stereotypes, sensationalism and language that needlessly dehumanises people. We respect the names, pronouns and descriptions people use for themselves, while applying careful verification to matters central to a story.
Sources and privacy
We consider the safety, privacy and informed consent of sources, particularly people who may face discrimination or harm if identified. We do not assume that a person’s LGBTQ+ identity is public information. Anonymous or confidential sourcing should be used only when justified by the public interest and approved by an editor.
Independence and conflicts of interest
Editorial decisions are made independently of advertisers, sponsors and commercial partners. Contributors should disclose relevant personal, financial or professional conflicts. Gifts, payments or benefits must not influence coverage.
Opinion, reviews and sponsored content
News reporting, opinion, reviews and sponsored material should be clearly distinguishable. Reviews reflect the reviewer’s honest assessment. Sponsored content and paid partnerships must be labelled clearly and cannot be presented as independent reporting.
Images, video and copyright
We aim to use images, video and other media lawfully and with appropriate permission, licensing or attribution. Captions should not misrepresent what an image shows. Edited or illustrative visuals should not be presented as documentary evidence.
Corrections and complaints
We take credible concerns seriously. When a published story contains a material error, we aim to correct it promptly and make significant corrections transparent to readers. Please contact us with the article URL, the specific issue and supporting information. We review complaints fairly, while protecting editorial independence.
Public interest
We consider the likely public value of a story and balance it against potential harm. QueerPos does not publish content intended to expose, intimidate or target people because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
